A91 Improvement Works at Blairlogie Culvert Set to Begin on 20 October

Residents, businesses, and road users are advised that essential improvement works on the Blairlogie culvert along the A91 will begin on Tuesday 20 October, with completion expected within five weeks.

A full road closure will be in place on the A91 at Blairlogie, from Manor Loan to the Blairlogie Orchard Dumyat Car Park, for the full duration of the works. Access will be maintained for emergency services.

The twin culvert, which carries surface water beneath the A91 at Blairlogie, has been identified as reaching the end of its operational lifespan. To ensure the continued safety and resilience of this key section of the road network, JML Contracts Ltd has been appointed to undertake the upgrade works.

The £196,000 project will involve:

  • Upgrading the existing culvert structure

  • Installation of a new reinforced concrete slab and associated ground anchors

  • Improvements to the existing headwalls

  • Associated utility diversion and protection works.

Contractors will be working Monday to Saturday throughout the programme, with advance warning signage already in place to inform road users and local residents of the forthcoming works.

Blairlogie Orchard Dumyat Car Park will be closed during the works and will be used as the contractor's site compound. However, pedestrian access to Dumyat will be maintained at all times.

Local businesses will remain open throughout the construction period. Access will be maintained and clearly signposted via diversion routes where required.

Community engagement has already been undertaken, including an in-person information event. Direct engagement with affected residents is ongoing and will continue throughout the delivery of the project.

Stirling Council committed to investing an additional £3 million on improving its roads infrastructure this year, bringing the total planned spending on road improvements in 2026/27 to £8 million.

Convener of Stirling Council’s Environment, Transport and Net Zero Committee, Cllr Alasdair Tollemache said:

“These works represent an important investment in local infrastructure and will help ensure the long-term reliability and resilience of the A91 for residents, businesses and visitors.

“We are committed to improving and maintaining our road network across Stirling. Upgrading the culverts on this section of the A91 will enhance the road’s ability to cope with heavy rainfall and will reduce the risk of future damage.

“Working with the contractor, we will aim to minimise disruption as much as possible. We will continue engaging with local communities and stakeholders during the works and thank them in advance for their patience and understanding.”
